Why Life-Size Works
A human standee is a full-color large-format print mounted on rigid substrate (typically foam board or PVC) and contour-cut to the silhouette outline of a human figure. The resulting life-size cutout is freestanding (supported by an easel brace at the back) and creates the visual impression of a person present in the space.
The human brain processes life-size human figures differently from abstract graphic panels — we instinctively engage with human form, make eye contact with printed faces, and respond emotionally to the perceived presence of people in our environment. This is why human standees consistently attract more attention and interaction than equivalent-size rectangular banner displays.
For brands with celebrity endorsers, company founders, event personalities, or beloved mascot characters, a human standee transforms that person or character into a physical presence at every venue — extending the reach of a single person across multiple events simultaneously.
Production and Features
Full-Color High-Resolution Print
Printed at 720–1440 dpi resolution on large-format printers for sharp, photographic-quality output at life-size (170–200 cm height). The print is applied to a 5mm or 10mm foam board substrate, providing rigidity while keeping the overall weight light enough for easy transport and repositioning.
Contour Die-Cut Silhouette
After printing, the standee is cut to the exact contour of the subject silhouette — following the outline of hair, clothing, and body shape rather than cutting to a rectangular border. This contour cut is what creates the illusion of a real person in the space rather than a rectangular poster with a person on it.
Rear Easel Brace
A fold-out easel brace is attached to the back of the standee, providing freestanding support without requiring any additional stand hardware. The standee can be repositioned in seconds — lift, carry, place, unfold brace. No tools or setup time required.
Photo Opportunity Design
Human standees create organic photo opportunities — event attendees naturally take selfies and group photos alongside life-size figures of celebrities, mascots, or brand ambassadors. These photos are shared on social media, generating organic brand exposure well beyond the event itself. Design the standee with this in mind: engaging pose, visible branding, and good background context.
Image quality tip: For a standee that looks photographic at life-size, supply the original high-resolution image at minimum 3000px height with the subject isolated on a clean background.
