Double Sided PET Tape S338 Red Guide: Heavy-Duty High-Temperature Bonding for Industrial Applications

S338 Red PET tape delivers the high-temperature resistance and thin, strong bonding profile needed for industrial signage fabrication, electronics assembly, and demanding print environment applications.

Quick Summary
  • High-temperature resistant PET film carrier — outperforms standard foam tape in heat environments
  • Thin 20mm profile provides a negligible bond line for precision applications
  • Available in 5m, 10m, and 25m rolls for flexible stock management
  • Characteristic red release liner for easy identification in production environments

Overview: When Standard Foam Tape Is Not Enough

For bonding applications that demand both thin profile and high-temperature resistance, standard foam tape simply cannot deliver. Double-sided PET (polyethylene terephthalate) tape uses a dimensionally stable, heat-resistant PET film carrier instead of foam, making it ideal for applications where the tape will be exposed to elevated temperatures — such as LED signage cabinets, heat press platens, laminator components, or outdoor signage in direct sun exposure.

The S338 Red is a premium double-sided PET tape that offers excellent shear strength and temperature resistance. Its thin PET carrier provides a negligible bond line, making it the preferred choice for precision bonding where a thicker foam tape would be visible or structurally undesirable. The characteristic red color of the release liner makes identification and handling straightforward in a busy production environment.

Available in 5m, 10m, and 25m lengths at 20mm width, the S338 suits everything from small repair and assembly jobs to large production runs. Its combination of thin profile, high-tack adhesive, and heat resistance makes it one of the most versatile industrial bonding tapes in the Kelin accessories range.

How to Use Double Sided PET Tape for Industrial Bonding

Surface preparation is critical for PET tape applications. Clean both surfaces with isopropyl alcohol (IPA) and allow to dry completely before applying the tape. Dust, oil, moisture, or surface contamination will significantly reduce adhesion. For bonding to painted metal, ensure the paint is fully cured and adhere to a fresh, uncontaminated surface.

Peel the release liner from one face of the tape and apply to the first surface, pressing firmly to ensure full contact. Trim to the required length with sharp scissors or a craft knife. Position the second surface carefully, then peel the remaining liner and press both surfaces together with firm, even pressure. Use a squeegee or roller to apply consistent pressure across the full bonded area for best results.

For high-temperature applications such as LED cabinet assembly or heat-exposed signage, allow the bond to dwell for 24 hours before subjecting it to heat, ensuring full adhesive contact before thermal cycling begins. In the Philippine outdoor environment, check that all surfaces are thoroughly dry before application to prevent moisture entrapment beneath the tape.

Tip: PET tape is dimensionally stable but less conformable than foam tape. For bonding on slightly uneven or textured surfaces, foam tape (S333P) may be a better choice. Use S338 PET tape where thin bond line, flatness, and temperature resistance are the priority.

Final Verdict

Double Sided PET Tape S338 Red is the go-to industrial bonding tape for applications demanding high-temperature resistance and a thin, strong bond line. It outperforms standard foam tape in heat-exposed environments and provides dimensional stability that foam cannot match. The multiple roll lengths offer flexibility for workshops of any size.

Strengths

  • High-temperature resistance for demanding applications
  • Thin PET carrier provides minimal bond line
  • Excellent shear strength for structural bonds
  • Available in 5m, 10m, and 25m lengths
  • Red liner is easy to identify and remove in production

Limitations

  • Less conformable than foam tape on uneven surfaces
  • Requires very clean, dry surfaces for full adhesion
  • Removal can be challenging once fully bonded
